Flattening annotations will merge the annotations into the PDF page to make them not editable anymore
When you share a document, after you choose destination, you will see this additional screen where you can choose "Flatten Annotations."
Flattening annotations will merge the annotations into the PDF page to make them not editable anymore. This also guarantees that any viewer can view annotations, even apps that don't have great support for annotations, like Safari on iOS.
