[Android] Why does my PDF not show up in the Recents?

Right now, only local PDF files can be accessed via the recent documents list. PDF documents opened using the "external documents" menu or from a third-party app, won't show up in the recents list. This is a limitation of the Android operating system, which only grants temporary file access to the PDF Viewer app.
